Sometimes, as a tech leader, I recognize that my “trainings” aren’t always high on the list of everyone’s favorite thing to do. It’s hard not to take it personally when certain teachers walk in and say,
“All right, let’s get this over with.”
It’s really difficult not to attempt to justify your presentation; it’s best to just accept that tech is not for everyone, and they will choose to accept it when they are ready. Teachers are a cynical bunch; I’ve caught myself rolling my eyes during a professional development or two. Sometimes, they are even worse than the students.
Rather than shaming them into acting like adults, I’ve just accepted the reality; sometimes, in EVERY profession, there’s just going to be negative people. So I found great comfort in this video from Lexington High School principal Gerry Brooks. If you’re having a tough day with some negative people, I hope it helps you as much as it helps me.
